Known for ground breaking
dramas & no-holds-barred documentaries, HBO®
did every nice, normal, naturally naughty adult a service again with a
six-part, follow-up to Real Sex, their sensational
&, possibly, still going (the first episode aired in 1992, the last (?) in 2009) series devoted to
delightfully diverse displays of just how kinky we humans are & just how much
happier we can be by indulging in rather than denying whatever forbidden fruits
we might happen to
fancy.
This time around, in The Sex
Inspectors: A Real Sex International British Import,
(original air dates 2004, still occasionally
replayed on the various HBO pay cable channels), the producers decided to change things up by
taking their cameras across the pond to jolly old England & focusing each
one of the approximately 40 minute
shows on younger, 20-30ish couples with sexual problems that needed fixing
before they took down the rest of their relationships.
In all six cases, the couples
were together for numerous years & enjoyed satisfying sex before boredom,
changing sex drives, a lack of communication, & too little imagination or too
much inhibition took the zing out of their love lives.
Riding to the
rescue, amiable sex experts Tracy Cox & Michael Alvear arrived, interviewed,
observed through closed circuit cameras, & offered suggestions based on each
couples' particular problems. As one would expect from HBO, each episode is
light, classy, informative & capped by a happy conclusion as the couples
eagerly
employ & enjoy the new toys & techniques they've learned.
All of the cases were interesting, but the one that really caught & held our
attention was that of
Nicky & Andrew,
a nice, normal, working class couple living in the picturesque English seaside
city of Brighton. Married for four years & sexually compatible & satisfied
for longer, it seems that Andrew had lost interest in sex since becoming a
parent while Nicky's needs for intimacy had grown.
The tension this fairly familiar problem caused & the arguments that ensued were clearly
caught on the closed circuit cameras HBO installed in the couple's not so happy
home prior to the sexperts arrival. But the cameras also showed the
solution in a much more light-hearted & totally cheeky scene where
Andrew read Nicky a rather risqué multiple choice questionnaire about

from a newspaper he's scanning on the couch.
Well, our ears perked right up, of course.
And proving they know what they're doing, the sexperts picked right up on Andrew's decision to quiz Nicky

It was so obvious that Andrew & Nicky were turned

arrive & Tracy takes Nicky aside for a girl to girl chat.
Everything goes so well
that the next thing we see is the two gals visiting an erotic boutique to pick up some

uncomfortable at first as Tracy takes various items off the shelf for them to
try. But Nicky is soon testing the toys against her palm so merrily that Tracy
